#5 – Results

After the other four behaviours (trust, conflict, commitment and accountability) we come to the final behaviour in the model: Results
It’s tempting to jump straight to this one. After all, isn’t that what every team is aiming for? But here’s the truth:
Without the foundation of the first four behaviours, consistent results are impossible. Too often, we see teams chasing targets with:
- Surface-level trust
- Avoided conflict
- Half-hearted commitment
- Patchy accountability
…and wondering why they’re falling short.
In teams where results are lacking, there’s usually a deeper issue:
- Individuals are more focused on their own goals or departments
- Wins aren’t celebrated collectively, and failures aren’t shared
- Energy gets lost in internal drama or disengagement
- Leaders are stuck managing personalities, not performance
But when a team has built genuine trust, embraced healthy conflict, aligned around clear decisions, and holds each other accountable then results flow naturally. In high-performing teams:
- The team goal comes before personal ego
- Everyone rows in the same direction
- Challenges are tackled together, not avoided
- Wins feel meaningful, because everyone contributed
One leadership team we worked with saw this shift in just a few months:
“It wasn’t about changing the people it was about changing the way we worked together. That’s what unlocked performance.”
Results aren’t just numbers. They’re the outcome of behavioural change. And that’s what The Five Behaviors® helps you build step by step.
If you’re leading a team that has the potential but isn’t quite hitting the mark we’d love to help you close that gap. Get in touch if you’d like to explore how this could work for your team.
The great news is this programme can be undertaken in just two days, so if you are contemplating Q4 or looking ahead to 2026, with a less than positive view, let’s chat about how ITDA could help you to re-set, ready to take on the next big challenge with a renewed sense of team.
Launched on Thursday 25th September, on each Thursday at 1:00pm,, our good friend and colleague, Kevin Watson is hosting a series of five free, 45 minute webinars in which you’ll discover how The Five Behaviours™ drives performance, gaining practical tools and insights to build trust, embrace conflict, drive commitment, strengthen accountability, and stay focused on delivering team results.
